An important part of our team here at Rochford Vets is our nursing department. Our Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) have spent years studying to earn their qualifications and continue to develop their knowledge whilst working within their professional role. Here, they have a space to use their expertise by holding nurse clinics which cover a wide array of services.
Mobility Clinics
Run predominantly by our RVN Cathy, these clinics aim to improve the comfort of your pets as they get older. It is inevitable that pets will age but that doesn’t have to mean that quality of life should diminish prematurely.
During these clinics your pet will be assessed and you will be asked questions about their daily routine in order to gain a clear picture of where improvements can be made. This could mean treatments such as monthly injections that aid in eliminating painful joints, physiotherapy, referral to the vet for prescription medication or simple amendments to your lifestyle to accommodate your pet.
We work with you to devise a plan that best suits you and your pet, even the smallest of changes can make a huge difference.
Puppy/Kitten Clinics
For the most part these clinics consist of taking your new puppy or kitten’s weight so that we can dispense the appropriate flea and worm cover for them. By bringing them in for regular weight checks your little one can get used to the practice environment which will set them up for life should they need us at any point.
Whilst you are here our RVN Rosie P can offer you advice on what to expect from your new little one and how best to support their growth both mentally and physically. We can also refer you to recommended puppy training classes if you are stuck on what to do.
You may be given a leaflet referring you to Rosie at your pet’s second vaccination, which will offer more information on these clinics.
Weight Clinics
Our RVN Natasha runs these clinics which are designed to help your pet reach their ideal body condition.
In partnership with Virbac, we have several resources to help create feeding guides, alter lifestyle and monitor your pet’s progress over a period of several weeks to make sure you’re on the right track. There’s even a loyalty scheme for Virbac HPM diets such as the Weight Loss and Diabetes food that may be recommended for your cat or dog.
There is never any judgement from us if your pet requires this support, we are here to help you as well as your pet.
General Clinics
Our RVNs can also offer several other services that your pets may need. These include:
- Anal gland emptying
- Post operative checks
- Injections at the vet’s direction

- General check overs (any health issues noted will result in referral to the veterinarian)
- Diabetic insulin injection guidance

Our nurse consultations are currently free of charge, however where necessary our nurses can refer you over to the vet if they feel it is appropriate.
